Why concentrate on endodontics
Root canal treatment punishes haste. The canals are minute, no two teeth share the same anatomy and the difference between success and failure is often a single canal nobody saw. A clinician who devotes his working life to this can afford the operating microscope, the ultrasonic and electronic instruments and — just as important — the length of appointment the work demands, and sees the difficult cases often enough to be comfortable with them.
You stay with your own dentist throughout. They look after your routine care and restore the tooth once Angel has treated it, and they receive a report with X-rays and recommendations so that nothing is lost between the two of you.
How Angel works
- Tests before conclusions. Cold and bite tests and the right X-rays come before any recommendation. If a tooth does not need root canal treatment, you will be told.
- Everything in writing. After the consultation you receive the diagnosis, the proposed treatment, the realistic outlook and the fee, and you decide in your own time.
- Magnification for every tooth. The microscope is not saved for hard cases; it is how all treatment and retreatment is done.
- Modern disinfection and materials. Rubber dam isolation, electronic length measurement, ultrasonic activation of the irrigants and current sealing materials are routine.
- Appointments that are not hurried. Enough time is booked to finish properly — usually in a single visit.
- Plain English. You will understand what is wrong, what will be done and what to expect afterwards.
Nervous patients
A large share of the people who need endodontic treatment have had a difficult dental experience before, or simply dread the words "root canal", and Angel has made their care a deliberate focus. Tell us when you book. The appointment is then planned around you: a full explanation first, anaesthetic tested before treatment starts, a signal to pause at any moment and breaks whenever you want them. Angel has also completed training in oral and intravenous dental sedation at Guy's Hospital in London, so whether sedation would suit you can be discussed at your consultation. Read more about treatment for nervous patients.
Fees
Because no two teeth are alike, there is no single price for "a root canal". The exact fee for your tooth is confirmed in your written plan after the consultation and before treatment begins, and it will not change part-way through.
